There isn't one on my keyboard.

Answer:
Go search for one on the internet, then copy-paste it to the Word document.

Try this: ½

Answer:
Word just does it for you automatically.

• Just type

• 1/2 and it will change automatically to this ½

as soon as you press the spacebar

If it does not then check your settings - Look at Tools> AutoCorrect> AutoFormat As You Type tab > look at Fractions (1/2) with Fractions character (½) and make sure it is ticked then click OK

For any other fractions you can either insert the symbols, IF available, or type them like this 7/8 and make the first figure superscript and the second figure subscript available through Format > Font.

Answer:
Press and hold the Alt key and type 0189

Alternately, you can use the character map in Windows. Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Character Map. Select the Font you’re using and find the character you'd like. Now you can copy and paste, or in some cases like ½ you can use a keystroke shortcut which is listed in the bottom right corner of the Character Map.

Answer:
Probably the easiest is type “1″ then “/” then “2″ so what you get is ” 1/2 “

If you want to, you can use a smaller font for the “1″ and the “2″ so it looks a bit neater.

Answer:
In Office word 2007 typing just 1/2 then it automatically converts like this ½ or you can use Arial Character map and copy it, then paste it into word.

Answer:
with my version of ms word all i have to do is type “1″ “/” “2″ with no spaces, then a space, and it insert the fraction

Answer:
Open up the character map, find it and copy and paste it in. It's laborious but it's there somewhere.

Alternatively, you could try copying and pasting this one - ½ - I'm pretty sure it'll work.

Answer:
'insert'

'symbol'

choose ½

or

hold down the alt key and press 0189 on the numeric keypad

Answer:
If there’s a symbols link in the insert tab, you will find some there.

Answer:
I just type 1/2 and it defaults to a half fraction symbol… I assume you've tried that?

Answer:
