I just bought a new computer:

Intel Quad Core Q6600 2.4GHz,

320GB HD, 4GB ram, and a 8800 GT.

I like XP a lot better than Vista (have XP on my current comp. and vista on my laptop). Wondering if I should stick with XP, or go for Vista 32 bit or Vista 64 bit? I’m thinking possibly Vista because I play games and Dx10 is Vista only. (I purchased Crysis along with my new computer)

Answer:
That's a pretty beefy machine you got there.

Go with Vista, it will run it like nothing.

You'll probably need the 64bit version to address the full 4 gigs of RAM.

I'd advocate Linux, but you state you're a gamer so Vista x64 would be the best way to go. Oh and supposedly Crysis performs superior on a 64bit OS

Answer:
Nice specs on the system. Cyrsis? Ummm- nice game. Listen, like my friends recommended, look at alternatives. A 320Gb drive? Dude! Head over to Linux forums and just install 3 (THREE!) operating systems! Serious! Xp, Vista, and one of the Linux distros. With those specs, you can run any Linux eye candy distro available.

Answer:
That's a hard question–I'm just getting used to Vista, but just purchased a new pc with XP. I still like XP better, but the DirectX10 for gaming is good too. If you go with XP, you can maybe get a video card with more ram. I got a video card with 1GB video ram to make up for DirectX9.

Now is your opportunity to enter the true world of home computing.

Why not give the Brand New Ubuntu 8.04 LTS a go and you will never want to run Windows again.

Answer:
XP is by far the superior OS and MS is planning on continuing sales because of all the bitching it has received over Vista or if you really enjoy spending hours trying to load software or games and the like into your personal go to Linux

Answer:
Either one you install make sure you install the 64bit edition or else you’ll not be able to get all of the 4GB of ram that you have. 32bit editions dont support more than 2GB of ram.

Answer:
Even though XP is good Vista introduces you to another advanced personal well.I would go for Vista for new features.Go on.

Answer:
I'd insist you hold onto xp. I mean if your much comfortable with it. Be sure xp has the motherboard component drivers eg

sourd card, vga card, Lan card etc

Xp is superior than Vista. (to me)

wish u luck
