Lately I've been experiencing system hangs. Whatever application I open it seems to be using more Cpu than it needs, which makes the personal hang for a moment or two. I've checked Task Manager and there doesn't seem to be any other processes that are eating my cpu.
This is especally a issue on startup as it can take more than 5 minutes on logon to load everything. Explorer.exe freezes for a few minutes, although my personal isnt doing anything. I can’t open firefox or any other programs until i wait for a few more minutes
I’ve no viruses, malware, adware or anything of that sort. I scan my personal weekly with Nod32, Spybot, Adaware and a couple of other programs. I defrag the personal with Auslogics each month or two and use Ccleaner.
I’ve also minimised the amount of startup processes to just Antivirus and firewall

Answer:
Explorer is hanging on something. It could be hardware, a driver, or software. In order to identify the culprit, you need to test by process of elimination each start up item in msconfig, every service set to run automatically, each device recently connected, and lastly update/reinstall all of your drivers. It's quite a treat. Nine times out of ten the problem is found in the begin up.
Answer:
A fresh start of Windows Xp/Vista could fix the problem and overwrite the errors.
Answer:
Seems like there could be some system processes that are corrupted. If that's not the case, it could be that your memory is bad or some other hardware component. Try scanning your memory with memtest and possibly try removing other hardware until you point out the culprit.
