I downloaded μTorrent beta! I tried downloading a couple of files. When I tried watching (after it completed downloading) I could not watch the videos. There was only sound but no image.

Maybe someone knows if theres a problem.

Does the fact that i downloaded the Beta, has anything to do with my problem???

Thank You In Advance!

PS I’m new with torrents!

Answer:
Well this is a codec issue but you do not need to download a new player to play them you just need a codec pack as WMP only comes with the most popular.

K Lite Codec Pack seems to cope with pretty much everything and what's more it is free :-)

I have given you a link to the download below - choose the standard or full version

Answer:
Hello,

There is no problem with Utorrent, as previous answer said check the file format you downloaded. As you stated if it's a film it's probably in .avi (so there is supost to have video and sound), then check the player you are using, probably windows media player. Go download VLC player (works without external codecs) and play your movies with that or update your windows media player version. It should work perfectly.

You can go to :

for VLC

for WMP

Oh and another thing, you can note watch a preview of a file that isn't entierly downloaded.

Answer:
There is a great Video player that can read any video without any code required and i mean all files the name of it is

VLC video player google it and you shall get it in any place and also note that it is Free and easy to use.

This is if you don't know about all those confusing Codecs and video formats and stuff.

Answer:
There is no problem with beta. You might have downloaded sound files, see what extension they’ve, .avi. wmv or .mp3, .wma, .wav etc (filename.extension, e.g. song.mp3, video.avi)

Answer:
Go to http://www.divx.com/

Their player can read many types of video files with different codecs.

Answer:
your possibly missing some codecs. codecs are file needed by ur player to decript the file and play it as its ment to be if its .avi it proberly means it divx or xvid go get them from www.divx.com or www.xvid.com both are realy the same i recommend u use xvid its smaller and very simple to use

divx.com on the other hand is just as good but has a lot of stuff ull proberlly never use

if its .mp4 it means it an quicktime file so you will need to download quicktime from apple.com.

and if its a RM it meals it a real player file witch can be downloaded from www.realplayer.com

both quicktime and real player have alternatives that r lighter and easyer 2 use u can get them from

FOR REALPLAYER

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real…

FOR QUICKTIME

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Quic…

and last but not least .bin/cue these types of file need to be burn to disc or opened with a special player called video lan client or vlc for short this depends on there content but if you know its a media file u can use vlc

you can get it from here

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Vide…

and it will happily read them strait from file and no burning required good for checking them first

this last one is proberly not usefull in ur cases but just giving u it for future reference

hope this solves the problem as am pritty sure its nothing to do with utorrent as i also have the beta
