I could never understand this - so, a minute ago it was there and then it disappears - where and how?

Answer:
The birth and death of any form of digital information is pretty standard, but can have some variations depending upon which platform and operating system the device uses. They are all born as 'address' locations on the storage device, i.e.- image file on a laptop hard drive. This 'address' is where digital details are stored, manipulated, edited, etc. for that image file in an encoded binary array. When you 'delete' this file on your storage device, all that actually happens is that the 'address' location on the storage device is 'reassigned' to an 'available for storage' location and all of the stored image encoding remains there until some point in time when that location is needed for a new data storage and the 'address' is again 'reassigned' and the old data is finally 'overwritten'.

So in terms of birth and death, when you 'delete' a file, is it not dead and gone forever, but is rather sent to 'limbo', where, with the right programming tools, it could still be 'resurrected'.

I hope this answer is not too technical, but helps you understand the process of digital storage, manipulation and retrieval. "The life cycle of 1s & 0s".

Peace,

Buzzy

Answer:
if you deleted a file from your laptop, you can check it into your recycle bin.. if you have emptied your bin, there's nothing you can do to retrieve the deleted files.

if a file is missing, try to do a search scan for your drives..

if you're using a client for download, check the settings of that software about the destination folders.

Answer:
That's a good answer. I have nothing to add…

Answer:
I am sorry but I am no computer wizz!

The only way I can think of retreiving a photo from a computer after you have emptied it from the recycle bin is to do a system restore.

I think that is safe to do, maybe ask someone who has a better idea of computers first?

Actually, I have lots of photos onmy phone and I have never worked out how to get them onto my computer, maybe you could help me? I have the usb cord thing and I think the phone came with a disc but I cannot work it out!

My age I think :((((
