I start one program, I reduce its size, then start the second and reduce its size.
I then have to adjust their sizes to make them fit exactly side by side.
Is there a way to automatically get them adjusted?
Windows XP or Windows Vista.

Right click on the task bar and then click tile windows horizontally/vertically depending on what you want. Also help to have both windows "normal" (not minimized and not maximized)

click the "switch between windows" button next to start.
Answer:
press control button and right click on the first program in task bar.
do not relies the ctrl button and again right click on the second program on task bar.
choose tile vertically
and you will get what you want
