Need a how to guide on how to make videos for youtube?

I'm looking for software that records pictures and sounds off the computer, so I can download a movie for youtube(just wanting to pass the time). I'm having a hard time figuring out which software to use. I have Windows Vista, could someone help me out? Thanks! By the way, I was gonna record some of the movies I have saved on my comp for the people on youtube. That's basically what I'm wanting to do.
