i opened up a movie site and my computer was frozen. whenever i try to start my comp either the cursor is frozen or it automatically shuts down. i tried the norton anti virus scan and it detected and removed one. It asked for rebooting. I have no idea about all these terms.
Can anyone explain me in simple words how do i keep my PC safe.

These days you need more than just a virus protection. Only about 15% of all malware is viruses. The rest is worms, trojans, phishing schemes, spyware, etc.

You can create your own security suite based on freewares, here is a list of softwares that not only will secure your computer but also improve its performance, all of them are tested and spywares free. After downloading restart our pc in safe mode and run all of them, because most of the trojans and viruses are associated with some other applications.
