Unfortunately, I seem to have picked up a virus/some spyware from somewhere, and it is really annoying.

Fortunately, my McAfee picked up 3 trojan viruses and deleted them, however, something has been installed onto my PC.

Next to the time on my computer is an imitation 'Windows Security' shield that has a question mark and a red cross in it. When I click on it, it takes me to this website (please don't click on it incase it does anything to your pc, it is just incase this has happend to anyone else so they can help me) ‘http://www.virprotect.com/?aff=1012' where it is trying to sell me Virus Protect Anti Spyware Protection.

My homepage has been changed to this ‘http://homepagecell.com/' telling me I have a system security status warning on my pc, and I also have 'Security Toolbar 7.1' appeared at the top of my Internet Explorer.

I have done a full Lavasoft Ad-Aware scan, and restarted my PC, but nothing seems to have gone :(

Please please please can someone tell me what to do??

Answer:
When you get Trojan's and Spyware it is difficult to remove it completely. When you go through this situation your best bet would to perform a System Restore (restoring your computer to an earlier time) and backing up your data then performing a Reformatting procedure. The system restore will inactivate the virus' but you will still have all the threats on the computer, the reformat will wipe everything and you can start new.

Need:

-recovery disc (contact manufacturer if you don't have)

-driver disc

Answer:
As the biggest of the problems seem to be associated with Spyware, for starters, download, update and run a full scan using the following product:

http://www.superantispyware.com/

SuperAntiSpyware is exceptional and will remove the majority of difficult Trojans and Worms, not just the easy ones.

If possible it is recommended that you load the application in normal mode but run it in Safe Mode. Safe Mode can be started by continually pressing F8 during the boot sequence. If you are badly infected you might need to run SuperAntiSpyware more than once to help clean your system. If the only infections now being shown are in System Restore, once you are completely satisfied that you can boot normally, you can either delete the infected restore points manually, or temporarily turn off System Restore.

Assuming you have some real awkward infections that persist even after trying all the above I suggest you download a Smitfraud removal program from:

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/deskto…

If possible run in Safe Mode.

Likewise try VundoFix:

Good luck & safe surfing.

Answer:
try using spybot search and destroy from filehippo.com and also grab a coppy of ccleaner from the same place see what that turnes up

Answer:
Try going to your Add & Remove programs & remove the Security Toolbar. This happened to me once & it may be how I got rid of it.

Answer:
Try downloading Spyware Terminator from here:

http://www.spywareterminator.com/downloa…

This a strong program (and free) which should sort you out. Do a full scan and see what it comes up with. It really does scan deeply into your files and not a lot avoids it. And full deletion usually results. After that, download "Ccleaner" to clean up what other "dead links" and stuff are left over. Both programs are free and I find them invaluable.

Answer:
Homepagecell.com is a new browser hijacker affilated with malicious Zlob.Trojan. This nasty hijacker shows fake Myzor@fk detection reports to scare unsuspecting users. This is the manner how it attempts to trick the user into purchasing the commercial versions of popular rogue anti-spyware programs. This hijacker also creates desktop icons: Online Security Guide and Security Troubleshooting. Homepagecell hijacker can slow your computer and cause frequent system errors and slowdowns.
