For Vista.

Answer:
AVG

It updates itself everyday and it is FREE. It is the number #1 Anti-virus software in the US. IT Professionals now have it as a link on their websites.

Don't use Norton or McAfee, they slow your personal down.

However, if you add a new Anti-Virus you’ll have to remove the old one first.

TRUST ME

AVG THE BEST!!

Answer:
Kaspersky and NOD32 are the ideal anti-virus programs available. I use NOD32 because it's lighter on my system than Kaspersky. Either of these programs are highly recommended. Current tests prove Kaspersky and NOD32 are better than the best sellers Norton and McAfee.

Norton is rubbish, it's notoriously bloated and likes to take over your system. Trend Micro Antivirus is a viable substitute if you're having a lot of trouble with software conflicts. Trend Micro rounds out the top three. BitDefender is very good as well, but gives a high number of false alarms.

The most popular free anti-virus programs (AVG and Avast) have poor detection rates (82.82%, 87.46% respectively). If you want a free anti-virus Avira has higher detection rates than AVG or Avast! (94.26%).

Answer:
Ideal anti virus on your list is Kaspersky, the strongest free protection for your personal is:

Comodo Pro Firewall and Avast Anti-Virus 4.8 Home Edition*

http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Editi…

http://www.download.com/Comodo-Firewall-…

* Install Avast then Comodo as Comodo can sometimes interfere with Avast's installation, would strongly advocate changing the default skin for the Vista style skin available from Avast's website.

I recently removed my McAfee firewall and installed Comodo Pro, its the ideal firewall I've ever used and comes top in leaktests (see below) if after installing Comodo you get too many warnings turn the defence setting to clean computer or off, its has nothing to do with the firewall part of Comodo it simply Monitors system changes.

Would also advocate that you use a safer browser like Mozilla Firefox, and download additional anti-spyware software my favourite is Ad-aware 2008.

Install the McAfee SiteAdvisor add-on - when you search for something using Yahoo, Google or MSN, site advisor displays either a green tick (safe site), yellow exclamation mark (use with care) or a red cross (dangerous site) next to each result. http://www.siteadvisor.com/

(I advocate that you try Avast before trying AntiVir as some people recommended Avira AntiVir to me so I removed Avast and installed AntiVir but I couldn’t get it to update, the forums are full of people having the same problem)
