is secure file deletion necessary for ccleaner? If i use easy file deletion and restart my personal would that be the same thing as secure file deletion? Is there a way to find files that have been deleted?

Answer:
CCleaner is a great program but there's not much need to use the Secure Delete option. It will overwrite the files a few times and change their name before deleting them which makes them “unrecoverable.” If you use it, it will take much longer to run because it needs to overwrite the files with garbage data rather than just marking them deleted. Also it's generally not necessary unless you're a very shady character since CCleaner just cleans up the junk that you don't need anyways.

Since the files that CCleaner is deleting are on your hard disk rather than in memory, restarting your personal does not affect insecurely-deleted files, they’ll still be recoverable years later as long as they haven't been overwritten. “Secure” refers to security against consumer-level data recovery like your friends trying to view stuff you deleted; intense government-level tools and techniques can analyze the physical disk with much greater precision and scrutiny to recover even “securely-deleted” files.

Pirisoft, the makers of CCleaner, have another great program called Recuva which can be used to recover (and also securely delete) files which have been insecurely deleted from your computer.

As long as nothing has been written over the file on the disk, it can be recovered and Recuva makes it very simple to do that. Just point it to a specific directory and it will show all the old file records there, including files which are too mangled to recover.

Simply deleting a file doesn't guarantee that it can't be retrieved later, there are lots of ways of reconstructing such files. Normally deleting a file just removes the references from the local file system, but the file itself is undamaged (there's just no way to know where it is without scanning the hard drive). Secure deletion will overwrite the file with 0's (or sometimes random numbers)so its impossible to know what was there before.

There are several fileshredders out there.I always have at least 4 on my cpu incase one does not work.I also use this program to unlock undeletable files; FileAssasin

I love CCleaner but it has it flaws. One program never does everything you need.Even if it does, what does one do when it fails?

I always recommend using multiple free prograams to aid as they are individual programs and when one fails another may not.

If you use a free program and it works for you please take the time to say thanks by email or by donations.Every dollar is precious and donating just one won’t offend anyone.
