Every time I update the virus database, the program tells me that a reboot is required. After I reboot, and it keeps on saying that I need to restart my computer. Anyone else with this problem / knows how to repair it? I didn't find anything useful on the AVG forum.
Answer:
AVG still has problems despite assurances from Grisoft that they would be sort sorted. Up to V7.5 great AV, V8….forget it. Previously I would only recommend AVG, now I refuse to given the problems many users are having:

I have switched to Avast, better definitions, anti-spyware and anti-rootkit built in, faster and more reliable:

Answer:
Those type of messages are usually associated with Antivirus program updates and not the updates with the virus definitions themselves. In my experience it happens from time to time regardless of the Antivirus products that I’ve used in the past (I have used Norton, AVG) and currently use AVAST. It also happened to me from time-to-to with my other security products such as firewalls.
However, it might be worth your while to post your query directly on the AVG boards.
Answer:
I use and recommend Webroot products. It is an Anti-Virus and a Anti-Spyware program. It has been very effective. It isn’t free, though. About $20 per year.

Not that problam, but mine wouldnt let me do an on demand scan, so I tossed it, and Got Avira AntiVir Premium, wonderful program,

Same problem here Chuck. Will be looking for an answer here. Since AVG went to 8.0 Im not happy with it. Maybe time for a change.
Answer:
I use it and that's never happened to me (it never even requires me to reboot). Try reinstalling. Book Mark it-> del.icio.us | Reddit | Slashdot | Digg | Facebook | Technorati | Google | StumbleUpon | Window Live | Tailrank | Furl | Netscape | Yahoo | BlinkList
