Is it legal too???

Answer:
Well, it's full legal, so you don't need to worry about that. I made a handy little chart to make it easy for you to see all the good and bad things about hiding your IP address.

PRO'S:

You can download more than one thing from Rapidshare or Megaupload at a time without an account

If you play an online game and don't want someone to be able to find out who you really are, then hiding your IP address makes it very hard for them to find out who you are (for example, the game America's Army supposedly tracks IP addresses, and then put them higher up on the conscription list)

It lets you have more than one account on websites that tell you only to have one.

It makes it a lot easier to get around the internet without becoming a target (Spam, stalkers, hackers, etc)

CON'S:

- As the person above me said, if someone is using a proxy to gain access to your computer, you can get hacked and lose important information (Credit card numbers, passwords, etc.)

- If it specifically states in the terms of use on some website that having more than one account is violating the terms of use, then you can get sued by them

If you need to know more, search "Proxy" on google.

Answer:
You don't have to show your IP address, it is legal to use different name to cover up your IP. The hacker will be harder to get you without the true IP, an your friends will be harder to contact you directly.

Answer:
Legal? Yes. Smart? Think of this: to hide your IP you will need to use one of many proxy servers that perform that work. Most are located overseas - are you trusting your personal IP to someone you know nothing about?

Answer:
That is beyond me.

I grew up believing if you ever wrote something down on paper, be prepared for it to be seen eventually.

Now it is the same don't do any thing on your computer that you don't want the world to see.
