Hi guys!

I've been programming in java for 6 years now.Now I'm thinking about learning .NET because of the articles I read that it will overtake java, etc. Is this a good move? or should I ignore the hype and focus on java?

Thanks in advance!!!!

Answer:
If you want a future in programming you should definitely branch out and learn different technologies. Eventually all languages get overtaken, and even within the language things change.

Specialization is ok, but you should definitely be familiar with different languages and programming styles.

Answer:
If you already know Java it will not be that hard to learn .NET. I would recommend learning it because Microsoft is putting so much money and effort into it that it is going to be a major player in the future. I don't know if it will take over Java because they each have their own special niche to fill.
