I have internet thorugh my phone, if I buy an EVDO phone will I have a faster connection speed?

I use my alltel phone to connect to the internet, however when I bought a new cell phone I did not know that the phone I bought was not EVDO. I have a motorola razr but it is not the one that is EVDO. I have an ok connection speed, but I cannot view videos or music good, it skips really bad. If I get an EVDO phone will it make that big of a difference. please any info would be helpful, I don't want to waste $$.

yes,an evdo phone will have a faster connection speed than a 1x phone,but there and not any razr's that i know of that do not have evdo. look at your top status bar. if it says 1x or D,than you do not have an evdo phone,or there is no evdo coverage,which is a possibility. if it says EV, you have evdo coverage and your phone is just slow,and there is not really anything you can do about it.
