I'm getting a new laptop and I really don't know what to get.. what namebrand.. what kind.. I just don't know!! All I know is I want one that will last me a long time and that will STAY fast.. not just be fast the first day I get it. Please help me out!!

If you want a good laptop, you won't typically find one in a retail store. Most laptops on the market are built really crappy (they may look pretty on the outside, but inside is low quality components and the outer plastic shells are very fragile). I would stay away from HP, Compaq, Dell, Toshiba, Acer, Gateway, Sony. If you want something with decent build quality, look at Lenovo, Asus, Toshiba Tecra, Dell Latitude. As for staying fast, that all depends on what you put on your computer. If you install a bunch of unnecessary software or get infected with viruses or spyware then your PC's performance/speed will be greatly affected. As for Macs, they’re a whole different “breed” and software/parts aren't as simple to obtain as they are on a Personal computer and your pretty much stuck bringing your laptop to the Apple store if you have problems and paying big $$$ for accesories.

do you mean battery last long? if you want the battery to last get a laptop with 1 processor not dual core cuz that eats up battery
power , but 2 processors make it fast , what I do is upgrade
the ram to 2 gigs that should be good. also get a laptop that
uses windows xp and not vista because vista causes to many
problems and the compatibility is terrible, I purchased a new laptop
with vista on it and it was hell, I couldnt install (boot my xp disk)
on this laptop because these new laptops only want you to use vista , so I had to hack my laptops bios settings to install xp and now im happy , plus xp just got service pack 3 and my personal is really fast since vista uses too much ram.

I have a dell inspiron and i have never had any
problems with it. The sony vaio is a good laptop also. If you want your laptop to stay fast don’t load unnecessary programs onto it.

Mac book or mac book pro will last for a long time, never get infected with a virus, or Trojan.. you can even load windows onto a mac so you can enjoy the best of both worlds…
