My D/ drive is not my local drive. I have tons of my Graphic Designs saved onto this drive. It keeps disappearing from "My Computer" folder. How can I resolve this. I'm getting really tired shutting down the computer. A restart doesn't seem to work. Please Please help and be detailed if possible!

Answer:
You can do a System Restore, BUT be aware that any graphics you put on this drive will be GONE if they were installed AFTER the System Restore date. System Restore will return your system to a state, when everything worked correctly, IF your system was okay at that time. You know when that was. Okay, having stated this, I will give you directions using WinXP. Left-click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore. When this window is fully loaded, you will see Welcome to System Restore, and on the right, "Restore My Computer to an Earlier Time" , with a circle, and a dot in it. Click on Next. You will then be presented with a calendar. On the calendar are dates, which should have one,or more 'highlighted' in BOLD numbers,(not capitalized like this, just wanted to show you bold effect). Sometimes they're hard to see. If in this month, you don't see any bold numbers on the calendar, use the Forward/Back arrows above to go back a month. See any now? In any rate, click on the number,(date), and then click on Next. It will give you a speech about your system will restore to this date, and all stuff you added after this date, ya-da, ya-da. Click on OK,(or is it Yes?) Sit back, drink a pop, relax, shouldn't take long. You'll probably be prompted to restart your computer. Do so. Now how is it?

Answer:
Has the cable for the external drive wiggled loose? Maybe it has a short circuit? Unplugging & replugging it in (or replacing it) should help.
