Do I really have a virus, or is this a scam?
So I was just on the internet, and then suddenly, everything like stopped working for a minute. And then a message came up saying something like “Warning!!! A threat has been detected. Please install anti-virus.” It then automatically opened up “my computer” and it showed some random stuff, which I immediately shut. I closed the pop-up because I know that those can be for stealing reasons. So yeah, I got rid of all that, and am now doing a virus scan. Should I be concerned?

Hello,
No most likely it is an advertisement trying to scare you into paying 500 dollars for a worthless anti virus software… if nothing comes up in the scan you should be fine.
Hope This Helps,

Answer:
yes you should be concerned.
you were smart not to download or run any scans from the pop up. just run your virus scan, then do a spyware scan, that's more likely a nasty trojan than a virus

Answer:
The “antivirus” you would have installed is a virus.

Your antivirus program should have caught it, though - maybe you need a better one. Try Avast - http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-…
