Why are things that are associated to personal or the web sometimes have an E or and I in front of it?

The e generally symbolizes electronic, and the i symbolizes world wide web. This is really more of a marketing idea to get people to see that their service is better/faster/more convenient because you are doing it over the internet with an electronic device, instead of old traditional ways of doing business.

Im not sure about the i, but the “e” mostly stands for electronic. Maybe “i” stands for interactive. As in iGoogle.
