I need to get my computer's ram upgraded asap. I asked the local computer shop how much it would cost to get it installed, and they told me they wouldn't know until I knew what type of RAM my computer has. I have to know weather it is DDR1 or DDR2 and the speed of the ram. But I just don't know how to find it.
I don't want to pull my computer apart to find it as I have no idea what I am doing. I have looked in the manual, but can't find anything.
If it helps, my personal is a Toshiba Satellite M110 (model no: PSMB0A-01L00D)

ddr2 sodimm (its smaller in form than the desktop version)
a decent shop would have checked for you- go else where.
belarc advisor will tell you how much ram you have at the moment

the standard for this model was a paultry 512mb- for xp my preference is a min of 1 gb in total
replacing it is easy- most Laptops have a max of two sticks. The one designed to be upgradable is on the underside of the unit with only one or two screws holding the cover. you just push the ram in at an angle until it clicks into place. try not to touch the contacts and to get rid of any static electricity touch something grounded like a radiator.
the other memory bank is normally only accessible by taking the whole machine apart

they will give you honest advice about how much to go for
BTW it seems that the most ram you can have is 4gb- dont buy that much unless you’ve the 64 bit version of xp or vista. The normal versions can only see a max of 3gb

Answer:
It's DDR2 but it's SODIMM (Laptop) ram and make sure you explain that or you'll get a stick for a desktop that won't fit in your laptop. And I understand that the people who told you to find out what kind of ram you needed because they get paid minimum wage and can't all be geniuses. They also have limited time and lots of customers.

If you are using windows xp there is a simple way. First right click on the ‘my computer’ icon then select properties from the opened menu. There you can find the speed of your ram, capacity of the ram, processor etc. Book Mark it-> del.icio.us | Reddit | Slashdot | Digg | Facebook | Technorati | Google | StumbleUpon | Window Live | Tailrank | Furl | Netscape | Yahoo | BlinkList
