If so can you tell me how much ram should i have and how much it will it cost me.
my current ram is 224 and I’ve windows Xp
Answer:
Yes its very true. What happens is each time you do anything with the computer, even a click with the mouse a buffer is loaded into RAM telling it that thats what you’re doing right now and to pay attention to that. But if you opened a program like MSN messenger and then open notepad, MSN would be put on the back burner, so it would taker longer to open up. The more programs you open, the more buffers your RAM needs and the more time it takes to do things. XP doesn't take up too much, but I would suggest going to www.crucial.com …. If you go through their steps on their page, they tell you how much you can get and how much its going to cost. Hope this helps!

Yes, ram has a big influence on your computer's performance. 224 is pretty low. You might want to try 512. It won't be too high-priced but won't be cheap either. Depends on what you're using your computer for too. The more you do with your personal at one time, the more ram you need. Like if you go from downloading to word processing to playing games, you won't need much but if you're trying to do several things at once you’ll need more ram.
Answer:
Well, it freezing a lot depends on the kind of programs you’ve running. Generic things like solitaire run fine, but things like iTunes are memory hogs. What basically happens is each program you run takes a certain amount of RAM. If you have enough things running, you run out of RAM, and your Personal computer tries using some of your hard drive space as RAM. However, since the hard drive is so much slower, your computer freezes. I would recommend 512 MB or 1GB of ram. I myself have 256 MB of RAM, but I have the ability to manage with that. One other thing you can do is get a RAM optimizer. A RAM optimizer basically takes all of the RAM that is being used, and sees if there's any that can be freed. So, it keeps your RAM as free as possible. If you’re going to buy more RAM, be sure to check with your manufacturer, because some motherboards have a maximum amount of RAM. For example, my computer takes a maximum of 1GB of RAM. If I put more, my entire computer can crash. So, just be aware of what you can get, and you should be fine. I hope this helps!
