I want to allow others e.g. friends and family to be able to see and hear media streaming from my personal.
I would like to do it world wide web radio/television style, so that they are all effectively listening/watching exactly the same thing at the same time, as if they were watching TV or listening to the radio.
Is this possible, and if so, how do I do it?
P.S. The cheaper the method the superior.
Answer:
VLC Media Player has the function, its free, and with it i was able to run dvds on an antiquated pc, never looked back,
anyway, send your current ip, when you've installed vlc, set the port number so
press play on your playlist
load vlc on another pc, type in the ip and port no;
and
bobs your uncle,
although, pay attention to the other answers, they're right, you would benefit from setting a static ip, or youll be telling a new ip each day
Total cost: 5 min download file to flash disk and install
20min playing to get to know the program
10 min fiddling with the settings
2 min installing vlc from the flash disk on the other pcs
1 min opening the stream
easily doable
Answer:
You would first have to upgrade your broadband package to have a static ip. A monthly add on of £2-10. I'd also assume that your broadband package would have to increase unless it's already 'unlimited'. Then you'll need some software but I can't assist any further. It's rather involved I think.
Answer:
BLUETOOTH!
Answer:
Yes, it is possible, however you must own either separate wireless/wired connections or a one fully operational home network. You need to have the computers/Laptops all connected to each other regardless of the connection type, whether that be wired or wireless. The easiest way to do this is to purchase a modem router, as this can set up your network wirelessly.
Windows has a built in file sharing option, in which the file/folder can be shared throughout your entire network. Simply right click on the file/folder and navigate to the 'Sharing' tab. Enable sharing for this file.
To physically connect the computers, try reading this link http://www.pcworld.com/article/102461/ho…
Hope this helps
