Hi. I've recently gone onto a folder called:
C:\Documents and Settings\My name\Local Settings\Temp
and found that there's almost 6GB of stuff there, even going back to 2006 (when I bought the comp). I have deleted temporary files using internet explorer, tools… but this doesnt ever seem to delete these files.
How can I delete them, and do I need them for the computer to work? If i try and delete them on explorer (ctrl A) it just seems to crash cos there are so many files.
I also have firefox, and use this much more than internet explorer. Where are the temporary files and the cache stored? How can I delete all this? Sometimes I also dont click to 'save' files/programmes when I download them, but to 'run' them. Where would they be stored?
Please help =D
Thank you
Answer:
you delete them via disk cleanup
start > programs > accessories > system tools > disk cleanup
Answer:
Get CCleaner. You may also want to defragment after you have deleted that 6GB so get Auslogics Disk Defrag too. Both of them together make a healthy computer :]
Answer:
Tools > Internet Options > and then tempory files is on the first page you come to and you can select 'delete temporary files'……I think.
Answer:
The easy answer is to download CCleaner and it will delete the lot, including IE7 and Firefox cache.
Temporary as the name suggests is temporary so, no you do not need those files in temporary folders.
Answer:
go to
Start– Run– type %temp% , press ENTER, this will bring you to your temp files. (easier to get there than using windows explorer)
Once there, go to edit at the top, press select all which will highlight all the files in blue.
then go to file at the top and delete.
BTW, temporary files are not the same as temporary internet files.
Answer:

Answer:
I agree with Tom, I have both these progs, CCleaner and Auslogic Defrag. ( they're FREE - just Google) and they do a good safe job. No problems.
