Oh no! Another urban myth. That was a spoof story, although admittedly clever and somewhat believable to non-techies.

It is possible but very hard. It would require proper equipment. to do it one your own.

Answer:
Nope, information on the internet is hosted by millions of servers across the world. Each of these servers contains an ip address (just like your computer you are connecting with right now). When you enter a domain (such as yahoo.com) it connects to one of the main domain name servers (i believe there is 4 or 5 main ones). This will then resolve the domain name to the ip address of the server. As far as someone crashing this, they would not be able to destroy all of the data in the millions of computers that are connected to the internet. If one of the domain servers were crashed, the internet would be slower though until the name server was back up.
