Why do you yhink people creat viruses ?
Answer:
Some people create them out of curiosity, to see if they could do it or how fast they can make them spread.
Some people are malicious and get a kick out of mindless destruction.
Still others have specific target groups in mind that they wish to disrupt. In this case the motivation depends on the target audience.
Programmers with agendas against certain software (Microsoft windows being a common example) and seek to undermine it by exploiting its weaknesses
Other malware programmers have different agendas, such as building bot-nets to accomplish some task.
In the end it really depends on the author of the malware program.

Bored; or these days, they want money. The viruses might even be paid for by the Antivirus companies (keeps business going!)

other people do this and in the future Antivirus companies will require there help
others are paid by Antivirus companies such as the ones that give you a warning message and ask you to install a certain Antivirus (or trojans might do that like trojan-zlobe)
