um what is a internal modem?
Answer:
A modem is a device for creating a network connection (e.g. to the Internet) over a phone line. They are rarely used these days.
An internal one is one that is built in (i.e. not connected by a cable to the computer, just from the computer direct to the phone line socket).

Answer:
An internal modem normally is on a mother board. It handles your phone connection and all computers have them built in.
Whether you use it for a phone connection or not is up to you. I don't use mine due to a cat5 cable connection right next to it.
I use a phone line with my All-In-One Printer FAX Copy machine.
