We have high speed internet connection through our cable company and has always worked well. Do they install a 2nd connection and charge a 2nd monthly fee or can we get around that with a "Geek Squad" service to hook us up?
Answer:
Go to a computer store and buy a cable/dsl network router (my preference is LinkSys BEFSR41 or BEFSX41). You install it between your cable modem (plugged into the WAN port) and all your computers.
Answer:
Just get a router. Then you can add another 4 computers. If it's wireless you can add another 20 computers as long as they have wireless cards. No - you don't need to tell the cable company but I'm sure they would be glad to rent you a router for about $4 per month when you can buy one for $30.
