I’ve an Apple TV and a Uverse DVR hooked up in my living room. The Uverse DVR is hooked up to my network via CAT5 connection and the Apple TV is hooked up to the network via wireless. I'd like to hook up my Apple TV via a wired connection so it will pull content from my desktop iTunes library faster, but I only have one network jack available in the room.

Can I use an old Belkin router that I have as a switch/hub? When I tried it, I couldn't get the Uverse to work. Or do I just need to go and purchase a new hub and try that? If so, is there anything special I need to configure on the Residential Gateway?

Answer:
go into your router's settings by going to 192.168.0.1/192.168.1.1 in an world wide web browser. then navigate to setup and disable DHCP, which basically turns your router into a switch. If this doesn't work, then just get a new switch, like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… . it will do anything you want it to do.
