I have a MacBook and I was wondering what's the use for a .Mac account? Do you’ve to pay for it? Is it essential when I have a MacBook?
Answer:
.Mac is transitioning to MobileMe, since the latest iPhone arrived.
You don’t have to get it, but if you could use a ton of on the internet space, you may enjoy having it. Apple set it up so that it works and syncs really well with iLife and you can back up files, or access email, calendar and contacts if you need access to that kind of thing wherever you go. I know musicians who love the large iDisk space and use it to share music files.
A photo album in iPhoto, can be easily published it to the internet in a rather nice page layout with very tiny effort. And if you're like me and don't want the world to have access to your life, it's simple to set up a password that you only give to family/friends.
So - those are some uses. If you're getting along fine without it, don't worry. Everything on the Mac works just fine without it.
