Reverse DNS?

Author: admin

Hello I have recently set up a mail server and have set it up on a separate ip address and am wondering what to ask the ISP to make the reverse DNS. The MX record is set at “mail.domain.com” so should I ask them to change it to this or my main domain name “domain.com”.Sorry if this is hard to comprehend, any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Ben

Answer:
Either one should be fine. If the reverse lookup ever causes you to get blocked because of spam from your domain (or whatever) it will get blocked regardless if it's the top level domain or a subdomain such as mail.whatever.com
