Can also buy boosters to make it go futher but your looking at money here but it can be done!

You can buy special antennas but the cost would probably make it pointless.

In your case, an external antenna would be something to look into.

Try for directional rather than omnidirectional.

If going beyond a mile, you're probably better off with a different technology. Why wireless, as opposed to having a T1 or similar connection between 2 offices? Are you trying to have access to a private LAN over these distances? Why not use a VPN?

Consider the security and interference issues common to wireless networks- the wider the area covered, the more of these you'll have.

For Internet access, just go with a major wireless broadband provider like sprint- their infrastructure already exists.
