Well I just recently switched from dsl to time warner cable internet and here how it worked. When I had dsl, i had a 2 wire home portal and i connected that to a dlink 524 router, which connected to my xbox 360 and my computer. It worked. Now I have a problem. After the installation, me being a not so good genius, i noticed that the arris 402 modem doesnt connect to a phone line jack, but directly to the cable jack. So I tried connecting it to the same dlink and it didn't work. It kept saying that it couldn't retrieve the dns i think. Anyways if you had the same situation or you have time warner road runner cable internet tell me how you do it. If you use a router, go ahead and tell me. Thanks

Answer:
First, get your modem all setup and working, Should you hit issues there is a very complete guide for it here.

Then connect your Dlink to the computer (use a lan port on the dlink.) Connect to the router and "Clone your Computers MAC address". Since there are multiple VERSIONs of the 524 I can't tell you the specifics but they are listed here!

Pick the right version. Once that config has been done, connect the Output of the modem to the WAN/Internet input of the router. Your computer should get a good internet connection at that point,, just check it.

Your router needs to be set to DHCP (probably is) and has to have the "PORTS" open for XBOX. You can see the specifics here.

That is specific to the 524, you may already have that done.

Sorry I can't give you better but these three will get you working!

Have Fun
